About

Tiio Suorsa is an intermedia artist working in moving image, moving text and installation. The source material consists of handwritten text, field recordings, movement and code. The work methods combine virtual and organic materials.

The work is guided by slow media thinking, which manifests itself in collaboration, slowing down to find intentions, and in examination of memory and agency from queer and unsettled perspectives.

With background in experimental photography and web communication she also sees art as process-based dialogue with glitches. She is endlessly interested in how mind and body ground, comprehend and create connections in current reality that is ragged and multilayered.

Tiio Suorsa studied interactive art at Interface Cultures, University of Arts Linz (AT), digital culture and cultural heritage at University of Turku (FI) and at Turku Arts Academy (FI). Recently works have been exhibited in galleries and festivals widely in Europe. Her recent artistic engagements include Helsinki, Lisbon and Leipzig.
