In Abundance - Performance workshop
2.2.2023
A two-day performance workshop for visual artists by Valentina Desideri took place in GfZK museum in Leipzig at the end of January.
The aim of the workshop was to examine can research be done by gathering and sharing knowledge at the same time. Also how abundance could be met when not understood from the point of view of scarcity. We started our journey from Butler’s theory, gender as a performance and norms kept with mundane performance.
Is it possible to change the norms by changing the performance? What becomes abundance when not related to scarcity?
Some matters and concepts exist only by the existence of the other, by the opposite. If we leave the concept of scarcity, are we in constant search of abundance?
During the hours of two days, we were taking a closer look at what is. There is movement born in the body, there are other beings, there are spaces, there are beings in these spaces, there are invisible borders and tangible walls, there are experiences, there are senses. There is a need to be a giver and receiver, there is a need for nurturing gestures.
Practising nonperfomance was the way to find abundance what we already have.
Do we accept to develop new understanding very slowly together, as slow as the
direction can be easily adjusted along the way. Every next moment is a new
agreement by everyone involved, if it feels correct it continues, if it
doesn’t it finds new directions and forms.
Are we presenting or are we sharing?
